Ballet West Company- the FLUID ADAGIO Design/Build competition called for national and international entries from young architects for creating a temporary installation for an outdoor park/amphitheater. The site chosen for redevelopment was centrally located amongst the existing urban fabric of downtown Salt Lake City, adjoining the existing performing arts building.
Jeff Svitak visualized the design concept for our submission titled LITOTES. Our collaboration, programmatic requirements, and fluent conveyance of concept and design qualified us as accomplished finalists. Throughout our design process, we experienced moments of creative uncertainty and clarity, of anxiety and serenity, of trial and error, and of great artistic satisfaction. Our collaboration allowed us to experience architecture in all of its grand totality, to work through the complex emotional properties that inspired our design and construction, as we sought to reconcile the same human and emotional experience within us.
